Coach Tatum – Understanding how to Articulate What you Know!

I had a chance to speak with Coach Ian Tatum this past week on my podcast! It was a fantastic opportunity to learn from a guy who has an incredible ability to ARTICULATE what he knows in a way that others can understand it.

When teaching the offensive line and teaching coaches who actually COACH the offensive line, there are a lot of complexities to go along with it.

The offensive line must be able to adjust on the fly, communicate at the line, read the defense, and execute PHYSICALLY, and do that for roughly 40-50 snaps a game. It’s extremely difficult. So simplifying it for coaches and for players is a skillset in and of itself.

This is why this interview was so exciting for me. I’ve benefitted from Coach Tatum’s content on his socials (specifically on his YouTube Channel) because he breaks down the concepts in a way that I can understand, and in a way that I can provide the feedback to the players that I coach.

If you are a coach yourself or an offensive lineman, you probably would benefit from following Coach Tatum yourself.

See, coaching is tough. Just because you played, or just because you understand it YOURSELF, does not always equate to being a good coach or leader. A good coach or leader must be able to articulate what they know in a way that everyone can understand and everyone can get better together.

You’ll get to learn about Coach Tatum’s playing career as well as his coaching career and you’ll learn what he has picked up along the way!

Come give this one a listen today!
